Sony FX6 Firmware Update 5.01 is restoring hope among videographers. This update addresses a critical bug from the previous version and adds several new features and improvements. The update fixes an issue where the audio from CH2 would change unintentionally when the power was turned on while the INPUT2 switch was set to LINE. This bug was introduced in the earlier 5.00 update (Sony Alpha Rumors).
Key new features included in Firmware Update 5.01:
- New Preset 709tone Base Look: This provides a new look for video capture.
- 1.5x De-Squeeze Setting: Available for viewfinder and HDMI output, improving compatibility with anamorphic lenses.
- Support for Monitor & Control App: This includes waveform, histogram, false-color, and focus map displays, with monitoring at a resolution of 1024×576. Users must update the app to version 2.0 or later to use these features (Sony Addict).
- Area Indication Setting for Multi Matrix Correction: Enhances color correction capabilities.
- Improved 3D LUT Software Image Quality: Offers better color grading options.
- 23.98PsF Support for SDI Output: Adds a progressive segmented frame format for smoother video playback.
- Breathing Compensation Function: Now supports additional lenses, such as the SEL100400GM and SEL200600G (Seriously Photography).
Additionally, the update allows the use of the multi-selector to choose the focus target for real-time tracking autofocus and adds various settings for media formatting and network configurations. The firmware update also improves the adjustment range of Matrix/Multi Matrix settings when the Base Look is set to HDR (HLG) (Celebrity Portraits Miami) (Sony Alpha Rumors).
